Contrary to news of belligerent poise of South Africans towards Nigeria goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, due to his role in ending the country’s dream of lifting their second AFCON title; he was warmly received at South African club, Chippa United on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old was received by hundreds of Chippa United fans on arrival at the Port Elizabeth Airport.
The “Shot Stopper” took selfies with the fans and joined them in singing the club’s songs.
“He’s Back @NwabaliBobo,” Chippa United wrote on their X handle.
Nwabali impressed for Nigeria at the AFCON 2023 finals.
The former Enyimba goalkeeper received cash gifts, a national honour and was made a chief in his hometown after the competition.
He has been linked with a move away from Chippa United, with Kaizer Chiefs and Union St Gilloise reportedly interested in his services.
