Nigerian activist, Aisha Yesufu, on Saturday clarified her political stands, saying she is not a card-carrying member of the Labour Party (LP) or any other political party.

Yesufu, known for echoing her voice against bad governance in Nigeria revealed that despite her role in the 2023 LP presidential campaign council said she is not a member of Labour Party.

Speaking in a recent interview on Seun Okinbaloye’s podcast, Mic On, the Co-convener of #BringBackOurGirls revealed her non-affiliation with any political party.

Yesufu, a prominent voice in the #EndSARS movement and an advocate for social justice, also made it clear that she has never sought political appointments or contracts.

She emphasized that her activism is fueled by her financial independence, which she had secured long before engaging in Nigeria politics.

“For me, I worked on my financial independence before I started speaking on Nigerian issues,” Yesufu explained.

“I am not a member of the Labour Party. I have never been a card-carrying member of any party.”

She further challenged anyone, living or dead, to claim that she has ever sought political favours, appointments, or contracts.

“I am a trader! I buy, I sell, I distribute, build, and sell houses,” Yesufu clarified.

Yesufu’s statement reinforced her commitment to activism without political bias, focusing solely on addressing the socio-political issues affecting Nigeria.

  1. Aisha Yesufu is too irrelevant to have made that sarcastic statement of not carrying any political party’s membership card. She’s entitled to just one vote. She should leave the stage, and then she should remain quiet. She should be charged to court for wrongfully infiltrating into the affairs of labour party in the disbursement of the party’s fund during the campaigns.
