….says he had 14 days after primaries to challenge exercise but…
There was twist as Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, on Friday, August 12, 2022 debunked filing any suit challenging the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar.
This is coming hours after reports from some media outfit that Gov. Wike had filed a suit at a Federal High Court in Abuja seeking the removal of the PDP presidential standard bearer.
The Rivers State governor at the commissioning of the newly re-built Assembly Quartets in Port Harcourt pointed out that he never filed any suit and does not know the lawyers, stressing that he had 14 days after the Presidential primaries to approach the court but never did so.
The purported suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/782/2022, with the plaintiffs arguing that the PDP presidential primary conferred undue advantage on Atiku which aided his emergence as the candidate of the party.
According to Wike, “I did not file any suit and I don’t know the lawyers”, saying that it was the handiwork of mischief makers who want to rub in his name to achieve cheap political point.
He further revealed that his traducers publish all manner of lies on social media as they also said he ordered his Chief Security Officer to remove PDP flags from government house, describing it as absolute falsehood.
The governor said that his focus at the moment is commissioning and flagging off of projects across the state as a way of showing accountability for the people’s money.
He called on those politicians to return to their states to concentrate on delivering dividends of democracy and ensure they win the 2023 general elections in their various states rather than loitering around in Abuja looking for who to blackmail.
Wike said he invited the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila to commission the Assembly Quarters because of his role in facilitating the release of the Rivers state part of the Paris Club refund.
