A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has barred the State’s Administrator, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas from inaugurating the newly confirmed Chairman and members of Rivers State Service Commission pending the judgment of the court in a suit instituted before it.
Presiding Judge, Frank Onyiri issued the interim order after parties argued and adopted their final written addresses in the suit by the Chairman and members of the Rivers State Service Commission appointed by the suspended governor, Siminalayi Fubara
The plaintiffs are challenging their suspension by the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, retired Vice Admiral IBOK-ETE EKWE-IBAS.
Justice Onyiri, who had earlier ordered parties to maintain existing status quo as at April, 2025, has adjourned the case till 29th of September, 2025 for judgment.
The claimants which include Reverend Goodlife Udukwu, Christian Ecgele, Chimenem Wisdom and three others are insisting that their sack was illegal and without due process.
The defendants in the suits are the
Administrator of the state, IBOK-ETE IBAS, Accountant General, Access Bank, Zenith Bank and eleven others.
