A disturbing incident occurred on Tuesday, June 3, along Lagos-Benin Expressway, where a Customs officer allegedly shot and killed a Nigerian returnee from the UK over a N5,000 bribe dispute. The victim, traveling with others, also from the UK and the US to Benin City, Edo State, reportedly refused to pay the bribe, prompting the officer to open fire.
This incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for immediate action and justice for the victim. A #JusticeForReturnees campaign has begun trending, urging the Federal Government to investigate and prosecute those responsible.
