Jimmy Odukoya, the first son of the late Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, has been declared as the new General Overseer of the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos.
Pastor Jimi also assumed the office of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Church as announced by the church on Sunday.
Recall late Odukoya, died on August 7 in the United States, and was buried this month.
“Pastor Jimmy is now our senior pastor and he is the chairman of the Board of Trustees,” a board member of the church(name yet to be ascertained) told the cheering congregation.
Jimmy, who will take over as the senior pastor officially from September 30 is a Nollywood actor.
His sister, Tolu Odukoya Ijogun is the new associate Pastor of the Church.
Commenting on the development, Mazi Cyprian Onukube, a public affairs analyst, said, appointing the son and sister of the late General Overseer to the highest positions in the church has affirmed that Pentecostal Churches are private or family business.
He advised those still devoting time and money to build and develop similar Churches to know that they’re investing in other people’s family business where they don’t have a stake.
He said, “imagine that in the entire congregation, the pendulum of leadership will swing and rest on the children of the late GO!”
“That’s in a large congregation with leadership structure!”
“Obviously, the structure has been torpedoed to serve the family’s interest!”
