A principal with Imaguero Senior Secondary School in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State has been demoted to a classroom teacher.

The Edo State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Joan Oviawe, reportedly approved the demotion of the principal over a “personal disagreement” during her visit to the school on March 2.

During the commissioner’s visit to the school, the principal was said to have found it difficult to set up a generator for supply of power for biometric registration exercise of candidates for West African Senior Secondary School Examinations (WASSCE). The development reportedly resulted to a minor argument.

A teacher in the school, who craved anonymity, claimed that the principal was demoted without a query.

Responding to the development, the commissioner for Education challenged the demoted principal to disclose details of what happened.

“Why would I have a personal disagreement with a teacher? That is ludicrous. The teacher should please state what happened,” the commissioner said in response to a text message sent by Daily Trust.
