The academic atmosphere at Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara was rattled Monday, May 24 when gunmen suspected to be cult members invaded lecture halls of the institution. The students had to escape through windows as the gunmen were unrelenting on their onslaught.
Gunshots were heard continuously around Department of Science and Laboratory Technology, forcing both lecturers and students to scamper for safety.
According to reports, cult killings in the student community escalated after a final year student of the Department of Mechanical Engineering was gunned down shortly after his final year exams.
Sources disclosed that one Toni was earlier shot dead and over the weekend, and a noodles seller simply identified as, Tallest was also gruesomely killed.
At the time of filling this report, no reports of casualties have been recorded.
