An 80-year-old man, Moses Inyan has allegedly defiled a 10-year-old girl (name withheld) at Ajamimogha community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, according to a report monitored on Daily Post.
It was learnt that the girl was sent on an errand by her mother at about 5pm, but went missing.
Her parents and other residents of the area searched for her till about 10pm but could not find her.
The parents of the victim and other residents of the community were said to have enquired about the little girl from the suspect who was notorious for defiling children in the area, but he denied seeing the child.
Not satisfied with the response, the victim’s parents and neighbours reported the matter to Ajamimogha Community Task Force who promptly searched the house of the suspect and discovered the little girl locked in a small closet.
The girl was rescued and rushed to a medical medical centre for treatment.
The suspect was subsequently arrested by the Ajamimogha Community Taskforce and was being processed for handing over to the police at the time of filing this report.
The father of the victim, simply identified as Friday insisted that justice must be served, with the suspect handed over to the police for prosecution.
