Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers on Saturday, reportedly shot two persons along Bazunu Street, close to Igbudu Market in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State. The criminals were said to have successfully robbed and shot a victim, before turning to a motorist who drove into the scene.
Eyewitnesses said the motorist resisted the robbers who attempted to snatch his vehicle; probably for a quick getaway.
“They tried to collect his car, but he drove it into drainage as he tried to escape. They shot him because of that and ran away,” a resident simply identified as Austin said.
Both gunshot victims are said to be receiving medical care at undisclosed hospitals.
Police said the victims were returning from the market when they were attacked by the criminals.
“Two people were shot. They are responding to treatment. They are traders returning from the market. The car was seen stained with blood”, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya said.
