A soldier serving in Maiduguri, Borno State has been arrested with 20 wraps of cannabis at the Seme border by a Joint Border Patrol Team in Seme, Lagos State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the soldier identified as Hassan Hassan was nabbed while attempting to smuggle the cannabis into the country.
Hassan who is a horse personnel it was gathered claimed he was on pass at 243 Recce Batallion Barracks, Ibereko, Badagry.
Confirming the arrest, the Customs Spokesman in Seme, Mr Abdullahi Hussaini, said the Acting Area Comptroller of Customs in Seme, Mr Chedi Wada, had directed that the suspect be handed over to 243 Recce Battalion, Ibereko, Badagry, for further disciplinary action, adding that the 20 wraps of Indian Hemp had been handed over to the National Drugs Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Seme Command, for further action.
