The once peaceful #ENDSARS protests in Effurun/Warri have assumed a dangerous proportion with the death of a 13-year old teenager, simply identified as Oghenevwegba.
The teenager, male was crushed to death by a tanker laden with diesel at the Effurun roundabout in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The #ENDSARS protesters in the roundabout swiftly took advantage of the fatal incident to set the tanker ablaze, with the driver and his assistant scampering for safety.
Realtime.ng gathered that hoodlums took advantage of the incident to create pandemonium; resulting in looting of Delta Shopping Mall (Shoprite) and other business in the area.
It took the swift intervention of soldiers from the Nigerian Army 3 Battalion to bring the situation under control.
One of the conveners of the protest, Comrade Israel Joe in a chat with our reporter said the protesters set the tanker ablaze in expression of their anger over the death of the young boy.
Comrade Joe urged Deltans, particularly the youths to obey the 48-hour curfew imposed by the state government to stem violence as street urchins have apparently hijacked the #ENDSARS protests.
Sources said the protests have been temporarily suspended to avert any crisis in the area.
