Home-grown e-hailing platform, ProTaxi, has commenced operations in Abuja with 1,000 electric vehicles, offering commuters a clean mobility option while creating income opportunities for drivers and their families.

ProTaxi is an initiative of Promiseland Innovation, focused on using technology to move people from poverty to prosperity.

The launch, held in Abuja on Thursday, attracted stakeholders from the transport and technology sectors.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Promiseland Innovation, Amb. Emmanuel Lawrence Oloche, said the platform was built on the vision of transforming lives through innovation.

“We believe that circumstances should not determine destiny. When you give people the right tools, the right opportunities, and the right environment, their lives can be transformed,” Oloche said.

He said ProTaxi is more than just another e-hailing app.

“Today, we introduce ProTaxi. It is not just another e-hailing application. It is a platform that creates opportunity and changes destiny,” he said.

According to him, every ride on the platform directly impacts a driver’s family.

“Behind every ProTaxi ride is a driver with a family. For every ride that is booked, a child’s school fee is paid, a house rent is paid, and a dream is fulfilled,” he said.

Oloche said the goal is to empower thousands of drivers and reshape communities, adding that the company aims to build an African technology brand that can compete globally.

“Our mission is to build an African technology company that will transform everyday living and eventually compete with the best in the world. The future is not what you wait for. The future is what you work towards every day,” he said.

He explained that the company had earlier announced plans to onboard 1,000 drivers with electric vehicles as part of its empowerment programme.

Also speaking, the Executive Director of Promiseland Estate, Gift Emmanuel, said the vision is to help the masses, noting that operations had started in Abuja with plans to expand to other states.

“The vision is to help the masses. We are here in Abuja now, and we are moving to other states to help other people too,” she said.

In his remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Transportation and Mobility, Prince Adetokunbo Ademola Ade-John, lauded the initiative, saying it aligns with the Federal Government’s vision for the transportation sector.

The launch marks the beginning of ProTaxi’s electric mobility rollout and driver empowerment programme in the Federal Capital Territory.
