Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, Sunday, dedicated his reelection and successful inauguration as the Presiding Officer of the 8th Delta Assembly to God in thanksgiving.

According to Assembly Correspondent, Nkem Nwaeke; Rt Hon Guwor at the well attended service held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCC, Redeemed Hall Mega Parish, Warri, expressed gratitude to God for the elevation from not just a member of the Assembly, but as Speaker of the House. He prayed for God’s directions as he faces the task of presiding over the affairs of the state’s legislature.

The roll call of personalities at the service include; Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevrwori and his wife, Tobore.

Also in attendance were: Wife of the Deputy Governor of the state, Dame Katrina Onyeme, a representative of Governor of Taraba State, Speakers of states’ Houses of Assembly – Bauchi, Benue, Plateau, Taraba, Enugu, Edo, Anambra, Bayelsa, Oyo, Osun, and Cross River states.

The state’s immediate past Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, and his Deputy, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, as well as serving and former members of the National and State Assembly, were also in attendance.

Others in the roll call include the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Theresa Diai, traditional rulers, party chieftains, community leaders, clergymen, captains of industries and other distinguished personalities.

The Bible verses, Psalm 100: 1-5, and 150: 1-6 was read by the celebrant, Emomotimi Guwor.

Charles Obasa, the presiding Pastor of the Parish reminded Christians that they are products of ‘faithfulness’ and should therefore always have reasons to appreciate God.

He stressed the need for leaders to be committed to making positive impacts on the society, noting that where there is no vision, the people perished.

He prayed for knowledge, understanding and wisdom for Emomotimi Guwor to succeed as Speaker, and urged him to remain focused even in the face of challenges.

Governor Sheriff Oborevrwori in his remarks said it was a thing of joy to join Emomotimi Guwor in thanksgiving and congratulated him for his attainment as the Presiding Officer, Delta State House of Assembly.

Oborevrwori urged him to trust in God for wisdom and strength to succeed as Speaker, even as he admonished him to remain humble, transparent. accountable and a servant-leader.

Speaking on the flooding challenges in Warri and its environs, Oborevrwori said many illegal structures will be removed to allow free flow of water.

He assured that the lost glories of Warri City will be restored as strategic infrastructures would be attracted to the area by the administration.

The Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi said it was good to thank God, as it is only Him that makes everything possible.

He paid glowing tributes to the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro who he said God used to launch him into politics as well as his parents whose tutelage brought him this far.

The high point of the service was special thanksgiving by the Speaker, joined by the Governor and other well wishers.

A reception was later held for guests at the KFT Events Centre.
