The Ilaje Youths Congress, IYC of Ondo State, has condemned the injustice displayed by Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during the screening and confirmation of Mr Charles Ogunmola as the Executive Director, Project of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC who the congress said, is unqualified to hold the position.
The IYC in a statement made available to Realtime.ng and signed by Comrade Aiyenuro Gbenga Shadrack, President of IYC said; “The act establishing NDDC which we are sure the Senators on screening committee are conversant with, as enshrined in Part IV of the Act which states that: “There shall be for the Commission, a Managing Director, and two Executive Directors who shall be indigenes of oil producing areas”, Sir it emphatically says oil producing area and not oil producing state.

“If this law should be upheld in Ondo state, the oil producing area is Ilaje Local Government Area. By this the nomination and confirmation of Mr Charles Ogunmola who is from the non-oil producing area OWO defiles the provisional act governing NDDC establishment that states only indigenes of oil producing area be appointed into such position.

“It’s so devilish that the people’s voice were swept under carpet by the screening committee on the NDDC which sees Senator Amos Bulus as the initiator of this act.

“After the petition on rejection of Mr Charles Ogunmola as the EDP NDDC that was registered by the IYC and other well meaning associations and including persons such as Hon. Barr. Kolade Victor Akinjo, Honourable representing Ilaje/Ese Odo Federal constituency and Distinguished Senators representing Ondo south, North and Central Senatorial District, the screening committee yet confirmed Mr Charles Ogunmola as the EDP NDDC despite the collective voice of the people to observe the NDDC act.
“This is the height of disrespect to the good people of Ilaje land.

“Hence we call on the President of the Senate, Distinguish Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, Senator Amos Bulus (Chairman Senator screening committee), SEN. Godswill Akpabio (Minister of Niger Delta Affairs) and his Excellency President Muhammad Buhari to used your good office to correct this injustice on the peace loving people of Ilaje land. We therefore demand that Mr Charles Ogunmola be disqualified and his confirmation be immediately revoked, failure to do so will disrupt the peace the nation is experiencing in the region in recent time.
“We are calling on the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, SEN. Godswill Akpabio to take note of this ultimatum, as failure to this would result in the total shutdown of oil exploration activities in the Niger Delta and the country will be unbearable for everyone.

“IYC stand against any injustice, hence we demand that the Executive Director, Project NDDC be given to indigens of Ilaje being the oil producing area of Ondo state”.
