A woman identified as Matilda has been arrested by the police for poisoning her husband, Emem Etim Marley in Ajah, Lagos.
Matilda was arrested alongside her sister, suspected to be an accomplice to the crime.
It was gathered that she had found another woman’s picture on her husband’s phone and suspected him of infidelity. She allegedly connived with her sister to poison him on Sunday, August 1.
“The neighbors were knocking profusely on their door after hearing Emem scream for help. Matilda and her sister had locked him up and absconded to their father’s house. The door was forced open and the neighbors found the victim lying dead on the floor”, a source disclosed.
The couple was said to have married only 8-months ago, and that Emem had done so much for Matilda to make her happy, including buying a car and opening a business for her.
According to a relative, Matilda sold the victim’s cars and hid his land documents before she committed the crime.
At the police station, she claimed that her husband “drank a poisonous substance on his own volition,” a source said.
