Ghana captain Andre Ayew suffered double misery after missing a costly penalty against Uruguay.

Ayew had missed the penalty during the last game of the group which they were defeated 2-0 by the South American nation, Uruguay.

Ayew’s miss led to their elimination from the group stage. In addition, he had to run to the hospital after one of his kids passed out as a result of his missed chance.

The daughter of Ghana captain Andre Ayew, Maha Ayew, was said to have collaped as his father missed the critical penalty against Uruguay on Friday.

In the decisive match, Ghana’s captain Andre Ayew had a chance to score from the penalty spot to break the deadlock, but Sergio Rochet saved his attempt.

Ayew’s missed opportunity was crucial in deciding the outcome of the highly anticipated match, as the Black Stars underperformed afterward and lost to Uruguay 2-0.

Unsurprisingly, most Ghanaian supporters mocked Ayew, who scored Ghana’s opening goal at the 2022 World Cup, and blamed him for the nation’s heartbreaking elimination from the tournament.

With a victory over Uruguay at Al Janoub Stadium, Ghana would have advanced to the round of 16, but instead, the African nation ended last in Group H after a 2-0 loss.

Giorgian de Arrascaeta scored twice quickly after Andre Ayew missed the penalty in the first half to give Uruguay the lead. However, the victory was not sufficient to advance Diego Alonso’s team to the knockout phase.

Otto Addo announced his resignation as Ghana’s coach, although he anticipates the squad will continue to improve following an impressive World Cup run. Addo was named the Black Stars’ temporary manager in February, although he has been juggling the position with his work as a talent coach for Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
