There’s a specific reason why some say Bill Clinton isn’t Chelsea Clinton’s real father.
These days, Chelsea Clinton is a 41-year-old married mom of three doing her own thing with book deals, foundation work, and more. But when she first came into the spotlight, it was because of her famous dad, and things weren’t always rosy for the family.
Critics have always said that Bill and Hillary Clinton are trying to hide a lot of things about their marriage, and of course, some scandals didn’t stay out of the headlines for long.
Compared to the former President’s other tabloid scandals, this one’s a doozy: some say that Chelsea isn’t really his daughter.
Some Say Bill Isn’t Chelsea Clinton’s Real Father
While it’s clear enough what happened with Bill Clinton and a certain someone who worked for him back in the ’90s, critics suggest that Hillary was well aware of the state of her marriage at the time.
In fact, they speculate that the Clintons’ marriage was more about political power and convenience than true love and companionship. That, they say, is why it makes sense that Chelsea isn’t really Bill’s daughter.
Of course, as Salon points out, the “mystery” of who Chelsea’s real dad is was “spun out of nothing.” It’s pure speculation and gossip, and it’s essentially based on the fact that people don’t buy into the authenticity of the Clintons’ marriage in the first place.
But there’s another reason why some say Chelsea Clinton’s real dad is someone other than Bill.
Who Do Critics Say Is Chelsea Clinton’s Real Father?
One of the trolls’ sticking points is that Chelsea doesn’t look like Bill (or so they say). From the jumping-off point of their supposedly “passionless marriage of convenience,” critics move to suggesting that Chelsea’s paternity is up for debate.
The seemingly baseless rumor that Chelsea Clinton’s real father is someone other than Bill came out after someone suggested that Hillary had an affair with a man named Webb Hubbell
Hubbell was a friend of the Clinton family, had previously worked with Hillary, and he was embroiled in a scandal during the early years of Bill and Hillary’s fame. But, critics say, Hillary once made reference to parenting advice given to her by “a burly ex-football player” (she noted this in her book), and who else could that have been other than Hubbell? (/sarcasm)
It sounds like a bit of a leap, but some say that Chelsea looks a lot more like Webb than Bill, which was enough “proof” to make them consider that Chelsea might not be the daughter of the former President.
But wouldn’t it have been great if Bill had said yes to the reality TV show he was offered, and fans got to witness the purported drama first-hand?
