The Delta State government has alerted residents of the forecast of the Nigeria Metrological Agency (NIMET), that the state will experience flooding this year as a result of heavy rainfall.

Owners of illegal structures such as buildings and caravans blocking natural waterways were also advised to remove them.

While authorities of Local Government Councils in the state, traditional rulers, community and opinion leaders are to step up preparations against the flood forecast to reduce the level of destruction of property and avoid loss of lives.
