Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State has inaugurated a taskforce to stem road obstruction occasioned by motorists who park their vehicles indiscriminately and traders displaying their wares close to the roads – obstructing free flow of traffic. The taskforce is also saddled with the responsibility of ensuring “cleanliness” and “environmental beauty” to the council area.
A public notice signed by the Chairman of the council area, Hon. Chief Anthony Ofoni (JP) and Supervisor, Environment, Prince Moses Mugidi; states that “with effect from 1st September, 2024, the taskforce will commence full enforcement operation without any further warning”.
This implies that offenders vehicles and wares will “face seizures”.
The areas listed as paramount to the enforcement operation include; Effurun roundabout – both sides, Jakpa junction – through to express way, Ekpan roundabout, Refinery junction, Shaguolo area, as well as Effurun market to PTI.
The notice sought cooperation from the public.
