The Jeddo community bridge in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State which is the only link by land to access Ughoton, Ugbokodo, Omadino, Obodo and other parts in Okpe and Warri South Local Government Areas is now at the brink of collapse.

Our correspondent reports that danger looms as a section of the bridge continue to cave with no sign by the authorities to intervene to save the bridge from further deteriorating.

Residents of Jeddo and the affected communities Real-Time24 gathered have cried out to the Delta State government and other interventionist agencies to urgently intervene to reinforce the bridge pending when a new heavy duty bridge is constructed.

The Jeddo Bridge it was learnt was initially constructed to accommodate light weight vehicles more than three decades ago until the influx of people few years ago into the community and the adjoining ones to settle.

The communities findings revealed have contributed greater to decongesting the Warri and Effurun metropolis, with the attendant influx of people, more buildings attracting heavy duty vehicles passing through the bridge to link the new towns.

Meanwhile, an entrance to Egbokodo community off Ubeji community in Warri South Council Area is also having a big cut at the point of entry from the Ubeji axis.

Residents of the area are also appealing for intervention particularly from the state government to forestall any eventuality.
