The Member Representing Warri North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Fred Martins has charged his constituents to remain calm and embrace every measures aimed at controlling the spread of the deadly in the state.
Martins who is the Deputy Majority Whip of the House and Chairman, House Committee on Sports and Youth Development, gave the advice while speaking on government’s efforts at containing the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the state.
The lawmaker said the dreaded virus took the world by storm and had succeeded in causing confusion across the globe as an antidote for the cure has not yet been discovered.
Martins enjoined the people to stay safe, wash and sanitize their hands regularly, ensure the observe social distancing and wear nose masks in public places.
He disclosed that he had distributed protective materials to the people as part of efforts to check the spread of the virus in the locality, noting that the existence of Covid 19 pandemic in Nigeria was painful as the people already have enough problems to contend with.
The lawmaker paid glowing tributes to the governor of the state, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, for the measures put in place to control the spread of the virus in the state, maintaining that the quick inter-state boarder closure, helped in minimizing number of cases in the state.
Martins whose wife had also delivered a bouncing baby boy to the glory of God, even in the midst of worries over the COVID-19 pandemic, expressed optimism that the present challenges faced by the people would soon be a thing of the past.
He commended the establishment of food bank in the state and the subsequent distribution of the food items across the twenty five local government areas of the state.
While appreciating the donations by some highly placed Deltans towards alleviating the hardships engendered by the stay-at-home directive, the Lawmaker disclosed that arrangement is being made to send more food items to his constituency, to compliment the efforts of the state government.
Martins however appealed for more support from critical stakeholders in the fight against Covid 19 and all the challenges brought by it including hunger.
He enjoined the people of Warri North to maintain the peace, be law abiding and hope for the best in the nearest future as God can never abandon His children.
