ABRAKA Many students living in Site 3, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, are now involved in different businesses to help support themselves and meet their daily needs.

Some of the businesses include hairdressing, food vending, barbing, printing services, and the sale of phone accessories. Students say these businesses help them make extra money while still focusing on their studies.

One of the student entrepreneurs, Precious Akpobome, who runs a hairdressing business, said managing both academics and business can be challenging.

Combining business with academics is not easy, but it has taught me discipline and time management, she said.

Another student, Faith Edewor, who sells peppered ponmo and meat, also shared her experience.

Selling peppered ponmo and meat has helped me earn extra income to support my studies and daily needs, she said.

Some students who patronize these businesses said they find them useful because they can easily get what they need without leaving the area.

Although balancing school work and business is not always easy, many students continue to run their businesses because of the financial benefits.

The growing number of student businesses in Site 3 shows that many students are finding ways to support themselves while continuing their education.
