Gunmen on Friday night at about 7:25pm abducted the Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, Hon. Okakuro Bright Afure Abeke, in Delta State.
The council boss was reportedly kidnapped at his hotel – Debrofred, along Owumi Road in Sapele.
Eyewitnesses said the assailants, who arrived in a Range Rover car, opened fire on a vigilante, Ufuoma and another security operative before whisking Bright Abeke away to an unknown destination.
The vigilante, Ufuoma,
has been taken to an undisclosed hospital, and details of his condition remain unclear at press time.
APC stalwarts have continued to flood the venue of the hotel to get further information on the incident.
