• University celebrates graduation of PhD, Master’s degree Student

The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has pledged construction of 200 capacity hall for Novena University, Ogume, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state. The governor made the promise during convocation ceremony of doctorate and master’s degree students of the university held on January 25, at the university hall.
In recognition of the governor’s commitment to enhancing education and his outstanding accomplishment in governance, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) in Public Policy and Strategy by the university.
The governor, congratulated the graduates and urged Deltans in all levels of education to study hard, stating that “readers are known as leaders”. He emphasized the need for perseverance as “life is not a bed of roses”. Hon Oborevwori further said; “There will be times of prosperity and times of adversity. The difference between great achievers and average individuals lies in how they respond to challenges”. He encouraged the graduates to apply the knowledge they have gained to impact on humanity and to “continue striving for excellence”.
Hon. Oborevwori stated: “As you step out into the world today, you must be ready to embrace change, because we are living in a world of rapid changes. Change can be unsettling. It can create great tension, anxiety and uncertainty. But it can also open doors to wonderful new beginnings. So, you must be prepared for changes. Sometimes, changes in life may appear sudden, drastic and dramatic. But instead of deterring you, they should serve as a motivation for you to break new frontiers”.
In his address, the chairman and founder of the University, Mr. Chuks Ochonogor, expressed gratitude to those who contributed towards success of the university. He specifically lauded the University Chancellor, King Alfred Papapereye Diete Spiff (OFR, JP), and the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Novena University, Ambassador Hasam Adamo for their tremendous support. “If you want to go far in life, you go with company”, Mr Ochonogor emphasized. He highlighted the importance of collaboration and teamwork in achieving success and acknowledged the unwavering support of the Governor of Delta State, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and his predecessors in the establishment and growth of Novena University.
He noted the university’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, stating; “As part of our corporate social responsibilities, we share in the plight of the community.” The chairman said that the university has identified critical areas of need in the community and received approval from the governor for construction of new roads, which has commenced in earnest.
Mr. Ochonogor also paid tribute to the academic and administrative staff of the university for their belief in the vision and their support over the years. He stated; “I pray that our staff, executives, and community members keep faith in our dreams”, and congratulated the graduating students for their dedication and hard work. He encouraged them to serve as proud and worthy ambassadors of the university.
The graduates, parents and well-wishers were in celebration mood as their loved ones who have climbed higher on the ladder of knowledge received their certificates and look forward to their next steps in life.
