A young blind boy sat on the street corner with a hat in front of him, begging money from passersby. One day, a kind-hearted man walked by and noticed that there was just a small amount in the hat.
The man took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them in the hat. But he didn’t stop there, he also noticed the sign the boy had in front of him. The sign simply stated that the boy was blind.
The man thought for a moment and had an idea. He took the sign, turned it around and wrote a new message. “Today is a beautiful day and I am grateful for the gift of sight. Even though I cannot see it, I know it’s there.” He put the sign back in its place and walked away.
As the day went on, more and more people started to notice the sign and the message it conveyed. They were reminded of how fortunate they were to have the gift of sight and they began to give more money to the blind boy. The boy’s hat began to fill up and he was able to collect more money than previously.
That afternoon, the man who had changed the sign came back to check on the boy. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, “were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?” The man replied with a smile, “I only wrote the truth. I reminded people of how lucky they are to have their sight and how grateful we should be for the things we have.”
*Moral of the Story* : When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change. We should be grateful for the things we have, and by doing so, we can inspire others to do the same. We should all strive to be like the kind-hearted man in this story and make a positive impact on the world around us.
