Piers Morgan seems to have had a falling out with Donald Trump, as indicated by his recent sharp criticism on social media.
The outspoken TV host expressed his approval for Trump’s rival Kamala Harris on X, following a US election debate. He praised her performance as “an election game-changer” and remarked: “Wow. Kamala Harris won that debate… comfortably.”
Morgan continued to criticize his one-time friend, pointing out: “Trump was unusually flat, and very repetitive. Harris was nervous to start, but grew increasingly confident. He didn’t seem to know how to handle her. Big win for Kamala. Wasn’t expecting that.”
This critique is just the latest in Morgan’s ongoing disagreement with Trump, whom he had befriended for over ten years. The rift between them started emerging in 2020 when Morgan lambasted the then-US President for his response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
He fiercely attacked Trump back then, stating: “President Trump’s bats*** crazy coronavirus ‘cure’ theories are not just shockingly senseless and stupid they’re going to kill people,” reports the Mirror.
Morgan also commented that Trump seemed to have “lost his mind” and lacked any real leadership, which culminated in an “utter disaster” by the end of his presidency.
Previously, Morgan shared: “I have always got on well with him, I did his Apprentice show 12 years ago and that is when we became friends. He is what he is, he’s an extraordinary and unique character, the good the bad, and the ugly. The problem is when America got really tested, that was always the question, what would he be like and he turned out to be an utter disaster.”
During a contentious interview that culminated in Trump’s abrupt departure, the television personalities exchanged barbs with Trump calling Morgan dishonest and a “fool” insisting the cameras be turned off before leaving the set.
In a move symbolic of a rift, Trump hit the ‘unfollow’ button on Morgan across social media platforms, seemingly putting an end to their camaraderie while casting Piers as “disloyal” and accusing him of being part of the “fake news media.”
But the two seemed to bury the hatchet when Trump called Piers, who faced criticism for being lenient on him during his program, leading to a warming of ties.
Speaking on his Uncensored show, Piers recounted: “We hadn’t spoken since our rather contentious interview we did, actually launching this show a while ago. We had a very nice chat and I’ve got to say he was exuding chilling confidence about what is happening. He really just believes he is going to win.”
Yet, with the US election heating up, it appears Morgan may have had a change of heart, now siding with Trump’s latest adversary as the country nears election day, Tuesday, November 5.
