Delta State Ministry of Secondary Education has indefinitely postponed the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) earlier scheduled to commence on Monday, June 3rd.

A statement by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Augustine Oghoro, on behalf of the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs Rose Ezewu said, the postponement was due to the nationwide strike declared by the organised labour over the deadlocked negotiation with the Federal Government on new national minimum wage.

The statement, however, has a proviso that should the strike action be averted, the examination will hold on Tuesday, June 4th.

Realtime gathered that the Federal Government is making frantic efforts to ward off the strike action which labour said will be total.
