In the fight against oil theft in the Niger Delta, recall that ex-militant leader, Tompolo was awarded pipeline security contract in the region, which has drawn the ire of several groups, including militant factions.
In an interview with Channels TV, Tompolo alleged that the security agencies are guilty of oil theft as well.
According to him, there are key areas close to military bases in which oil theft is openly taking place.
He said that they have engaged the people against the illegal activities and that the ball is now in the court of the security agencies.
He said, ”A lot of people are now running helter/skelter because they know that there is nothing in this country concerning the riverine that I don’t know. The people in Imo and Rivers State are all brothers and friends. So, once we discuss and agree, everything will go on smoothly.
“That’s more reason why our people in Rivers State are going to start any moment from now, once they are fully engaged and then we will now call the security people to call their people to order. Once that is done then we are good to go.”
