Ahead of the February 2023 presidential elections, five Governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday, met in Enugu State.

According to source, the discussion centred on how to deliver the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi in the 2023 elections.

The Governors; Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Okezie Ikeazu of Abia State and the host Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, were moved to back Peter Obi’s candidacy because they are not comfortable with the PDP flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar.

The decision of the governors may be connected with the crisis rocking the main opposition party, PDP.

The crisis, which was birthed by the face-off between Wike and the former vice president, continues to degenerate despite concerted efforts by party stakeholders to mend fences.
