As part of efforts to keep Warri South Local Government Area clean, the council has decided to go tough on all environmental offenders using relevant local and state laws to prosecute offenders.
The council said henceforth it will enforce all local and state laws to deal with those who wilfully disobey environmental laws in the council.
In a statement by the Supervisor for Environment, Warri South Local Government Area, Mr Omawumi Elete, which was made available to newsmen in Warri on Monday, the council has banned all indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the middle and side of major roads in the council.
He said that “in the coming days offenders caught will be Procecuted with the adequate Local and State Goverment Laws.”
He lists some of the major roads where anybody found dumping refuse in will be prosecuted as; Ogunu flyover bridge head, Shell Main Office gate opposite FGC, Odion Road, Cemetery Road, Okere Road, Ajamimogha Road, Immigration fence along Airport Road, Okumagba Estate and Okere Market Road, as well as Deco Road.
Others are; Ekurede Urhobo and Ogunu Road, Isibovwe Primary School, Ekurede Urhobo, Ojojo Primary School fence, Warri, Cavagina Primary School, Otovwodo, Warri, Igbudu Primary School fence, Enerhen Junction, and NPA Bypass Road.
