Ex-Nigeria First Lady, Chief (Mrs) Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi is dead. Family sources said she died peacefully in her sleep last night. She was aged 97.
Chief (Mrs) Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi was the wife of late Nigeria Head of State, Major General J.T.U. Aguiyi-Ironsi who was assassinated on July 29, 1966 in a military putsch that ushered General Yakubu Gowon as head of the military junta which ruled Nigeria during the civil war.
The former First Lady did not married again after her husband’s death.
