The Presidency has confirmed the defection of the Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The Presidential Media Aide, Bashir Ahmad in a Facebook post, said;
“So Zamfara is back home, Welcome Matawalle.”
The defection has not been confirmed by the governor, who, back in April, was visited by six PDP governors – Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Darius Ishaku of Taraba, Umar Fintiri of Adamawa and Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, to persuade him from joining APC.
