The Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, Oghenedoro Owoso was on Tuesday, May 4 attacked by youths in Mosogar.
It was gathered that the council chairman was pacifying the youths who were protesting eight-year electricity outage in the community when they turned on him.
One of the policemen attached to the council chairman was injured in the attack, and his service rifle as well as that of the second security aide were whisked away by the youths.
The chairman has reportedly called for dialogue, noting that violence is counter-productive.
Owoso also said that some suspects have been arrested over the missing rifles.
