Nigerian Government has extended the deadline for connection of National Identification Number (NIN) with Subscriber Identification Module (SIM).

The new deadline is January 19, 2021 for those with NIN; while those without NIN has been extended to February 9, 2021.

This is coming at the heel of ‘invasion’ of NIN registration centres across the country by subscribers who want to register for the national identity, and criticism of two weeks period allocated for update of SIM registration.

Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) had instructed telecommunications companies to block all unregistered SIM cards in the country in two weeks.

Customers of all networks were told to register with their National Identity Numbers (NIN) or risk losing their numbers.
