
17 political parties and their candidates are this morning, poised to win majority of the 1,478,460 votes as Ondo State elects a new Governor today.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, said although the state has 1,822,346 registered voters, only 1,478,460 PVCs were collected and they will be the eligible voters in today’s poll.
Residents are expected to gather at different polling units within the state to determine who will govern them for another four years.
Election is expected to hold in the 3,009 polling units in the 203 wards of all 18 local government areas in the state.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is among the front runners as he battles to win a second term against his Deputy, Mr. Agboola Ajayi of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, as well as former Attorney General of the state, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, among others.
