Chairperson of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Delta State Command, Hajiya Aisha Inuwa, has tasked security operatives in the command to improve their intelligence network in the bid to curb criminal activities across their area of operations.

Hajiya Inuwa, wife of the State Commissioner of Police, spoke during a familiarization tour/barracks inspection of the Warri Area Command on Wednesday.

She said that better intelligence gathering will ensure safety of lives and properties in the command, just as she commended the policemen for their “undivided support and cooperation” towards her husband, CP Hafiz Inuwa.

“I want to encourage us all to contribute our quota in form of giving relevant, credible and useful information on criminal activities and hideouts to enable the ease of effective policing and to ensure a safe and peaceful environment which will in turn, create a good business and investment environment to the envy of all,” she stated.

The CP’s wife, while noting that challenges of accommodation in Police barracks have made it difficult for officers to live with their families. She however, urged POWA members to make efforts to attend meetings of the association, adding that it “will strengthen bonds and build better relationships with their husbands”.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP),Warri Area Command, Abubakar Argungu, appealed to the command to facilitate a Police Communication System (PCS) in the area.

Argungu stated that considering the economic value, population, size and political terrain of the area command, having a PCS will go a long way to creating a more peaceful and safe environment.

He further commended the commissioner’s wife for making the area a “comfort zone,” adding that it is reflected in the leadership style of his boss.

Earlier, wife of the Area Commander, Hajiya Zainab Argungu, called for support for widows of fallen officers of the command.

Expressing excitement over the visit, she disclosed that POWA members under the Area Command are being encouraged to acquire skills in order to render assistance to their husbands.
