The Vice President of SEEPCO  Group of Companies, Mr Sandeep Singh has said that the SEEPCO LNG Plant project at Ogbakgwu, Ogume in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, which is a multi-billion naira gas processing plant had ninety-five input from local content including laying of one hundred kilometres of pipeline to the plant while the others which are highly technical were fabricated from the USA, UK, India and Germany.

Singh disclosed this during an inspection of the plant by the Delta State Deputy Governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro.

He noted that the gas plant which is the latest technology in the industry will also have a one thousand megawatts independent power plant that will feed Asaba and environs.

Mr Singh said natural gas would be sourced from OML143 and commended the state government for providing the enabling environment to execute the project.

The Head of Project, Mr Santil who explained the project design, diagram and benefits via a projector before the inspection tour by the Deputy Governor and his entourage disclosed that when completed the plant would provide about seven hundred thousand metric tonnes of processed gas daily.

Mr Santil said with the plant the gap between supply and demand will be reduced, development of gas base and increase availability of LPG  achieved as well as reduction of dependence on kerosene and similar products.

Speaking during the inspection tour, Otuaro said Delta State was open for foreign and local investment as the enabling environment and support has been provided by the Okowa administration as part of deliberate efforts to enhance development.

The Deputy Governor said Delta State was open to prospective investors in the areas of agriculture, solid minerals, oil and gas, science and technology among others.

He stated that the Okowa administration had provided the conducive environment for investors stressing that the impact of the multi-billion naira gas processing plant at Ogume on the state’s and national economy cannot be overemphasized.

Deacon Otuaro solicited for a stronger partnership between the state government, the company and Ogume community and commended the youths and elders of the host community for providing a conducive environment for the construction of the gas plant without any form of disturbances or crisis.

The Deputy Governor advised officials of the company to carry the state government along when signing any memorandum of understanding with the community to forestall any misunderstanding.

The Deputy Governor Kingsley Otuaro commended the firm for citing the multi-billion naira gas plant in the State adding that the project was key in harnessing the rich gas reserves that abound in the state.
