Nigeria’s Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has accused some members of the National Assembly of handling major contracts of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

The two-time governor of Akwa-Ibom disclosed this while answering questions at the ongoing probe by the House of Representatives committee.

Akpabio said, “Most of the contracts in NDDC are given out to the members of the National Assembly. If you don’t know, please ask the two chairmen.”
Akpabio further explained that some Chairmen of committees on NDDC have slots in the budget.

His disclosure was however challenged by a member of the committee which led to hot argument.

RealTime24 gathered that at that stage, the leader of the committee hurted Akpabio saying, “Hon. Minister, it’s okay, it’s okay.”

The NDDC recently came under investigation by the House of Representatives over alleged fraud and other corruption related matters.
