The certificate forgery allegations against the duo of Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy Philip Shaibu which seems to have been laid to rest after the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC published the political parties candidate academic qualifications few weeks ago, took new dimension, as the deputy governor shaibu is sued over forged West African Examination Council WAEC certificate.
The petitioner alleges that Philip Shaibu presented forged WAEC and Tax clearance to INEC contrary to section 31 of the Electoral Act & 182 of the Constitution.
Recall that Governor was also disqualified from participating in 22 June primary election of the All Progressive Congress APC, over discrepancies in his academic qualifications.
When INEC earlier published the documents of Governor Godwin Obaseki and the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu; some discrepancies were frowned at in some quarters.
This is a developing story, as more details may emerge soon.
Meanwhile, the State Media Campaign Council of the APC for the Edo Governorship election has dismissed claims by Don Pedro Obaseki, a cousin of the incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki, that the ‘SIMPLE’ acronym of its candidate’s Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu manifesto originally belongs to Gov. Obaseki.
