The All Progressives Congress has dissolved its National Working Committee and appointed a Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee for the party.
The decision was reached at the National Executive Council meeting held on Thursday.
President, Muhammadu Buhari led chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress to the meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The President called for immediate suspension of all pending litigations involving the party and its members, and ratified the recent APC governorship primary in Edo State. He condemned the recent crisis in the party and stressed the need for party discipline.
He appointed the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Bala Buni to head the new caretaker extraordinary convention planning committee for the party.
Mai Bala Buni was immediately sworn in at the meeting by the AGF, Abubakar Malami.
The meeting which started around noon also had in attendance Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; President of the Senate Ahmad Lawan; Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; and 15 state governors.
Others in attendance were the National Deputy Chairman, Lawal Shuaibu; Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege; the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase; the House majority leader, Hassan Dogowa; and the Deputy Chief Whip, House of Representatives, Nnenna Ukeje.
State Governors that attended the meeting include those of Nasarawa, Niger, Jigawa, Yobe, Plateau, Kogi, Imo, Gombe, Osun, Ogun, Lagos, Kwara, Ekiti, Kano, and Kebbi.
Acting National Chairman of the APC, Victor Giadom was the first to arrive for the meeting, as he was sighted at the venue as early as 8.30 am alongside the National Deputy Chairman-North of the APC, Lawal Shuaibu.
