The Delta State government has confirmed 7 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 46.

The State Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, confirmed the seven new cases in a post on official facebook account late Monday night.

The post reads, “Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Delta is now 46 As NCDC records 7 new cases.”

The seven new cases which are in addition to the last 39 cases recorded as at Sunday May 24, now raises serious concern about the recent decision by the state government to allow churches to reopen for worship.

Meanwhile, Nigeria on Monday night recorded 229 new cases of COVID-19 which now brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 8068.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its twitter hand said 90 cases were recorded in Lagos State, 27 in Katsina State, 26 in Imo State, 23 in Kano and 14 in the Federal Capital Territory.

Also, Plateau State 12, Ogun State 9, Delta State 7, Borno State 5, Rivers State 5, Oyo State 4, Gombe State 3, Osun State 2 and one each in Anambra and Bayelsa States

Total number of discharged patients now stands at 2311 with 233 deaths recorded.
