Suspected armed robbers on Wednesday afternoon stormed the popular Igbudu market in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, robbed a provision dealer identified as Emeka and carted away millions of naira from his warehouse at the Igbudu market extension.

It was learnt that the suspected armed robbers came through the Warri garage axis with a car, shot sporadically into the air before they carried out their heinous act.

The incident caused tension in the market which was being guarded by soldiers and vigilantee groups as traders and residents scampered for safety.

Emeka who is popularly referred to as “Ogidi” was seen on Thursday morning rejoicing with other traders as the suspected armed robbers did not kill or injured anyone in his warehouse or in the market. He however declined comments when our correspondent tried to interview him on the incident.

Traders at the market expressed shock on the incident and said that the dare-devil armed robbers were brutal and meant business.

When contacted for comments, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya in a text message said,”I’m in a meeting, I will get back to you soonest”.
