By Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe
The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Communications, Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, a lawyer, has said that the newly confirmed socioeconomic status of Delta, as the second least poor state in Nigeria, was earned through people-focused policies, programmes, wealth and job creation initiatives of this administration.
Oghenesivbe, in a statement on Thursday, celebrated the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics (NBS) rating and congratulated the state governor, Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, and his economic team for the remarkable and uncommon good governance strides so far recorded since assumption of office on May 29, 2015 and still counting.
He said the NBS rating has nullified all negative attacks in the media against Okowa administration and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, by the major opposition party in the state, and that the Bureau being a federal agency has sufficiently proved her worth as an unbiased public agency.
The EA Communications asserted that the “Prosperity for all Deltans” mantra of this administration is working and has produced tremendous economic gains for the people, adding that the initiative will continue to transform more lives, especially with the Stronger Delta Agenda of the second term tenure crafted to make the state stronger economically.
“The visionary leadership cum socioeconomic remodelling of Delta State by this administration has been corroborated by the National Bureau of Statistics, a federal agency. The credibility of this agency is not in doubt and the enviable performance of Okowa administration is not also in doubt. We are making remarkable progress as a government and as a people.
“The job and wealth creation achievements of government through YAGEB and STEP is in public domain. It’s impacts on the living standard and wellbeing of our people is yet again confirmed by NBS which rated Delta as the second least poor state in Nigeria.
“The readjusted 2020 budget aimed at boosting social investments to jack up the income of the vulnerable and daily income earners in the face of Covid-19 pandemic, further attests to the strong determination of Gov Okowa to sustained poverty eradication in the state.
“I congratulate His Excellency the Governor and the good people of Delta State, for this milestone achievement. I urge us to continue to support our governor, as we commence the gradual implementation of the Stronger Delta Agenda.
“Covid-19 pandemic will soon be a thing of the past and we shall continue to enjoy the benefits of socioeconomic remodelling efforts of this administration,” Oghenesivbe assured.
