The Delta State government says the death of twenty-eight year old Mr Joseph Pessu during the COVID-19 lockdown in the state was painful and unfortunate.
The State Deputy Governor, Mr Kingsley Otuaro, who led a high powered delegation on a condolence visit to the family at Ugbuwangue in Warri South Local Government Area, said government saw the nature of the demise as regrettable promising to support the immediate family of the deceased.
He stressed that the death of Mr Joseph Pessu was a rude shock to all Deltans and the government.
Mr Otuaro noted that the modalities put in place by government particularly the lockdown to check the spread of COVID-19 was well intended to protect lives in the face of the dreaded disease.
He noted the killing of Joseph Pessu in his prime was not tenable as security agencies were only meant to enforce the lockdown order by the state government.
Describing the Pessu family as a notable family in Warri, Deacon Otuaro prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
