On a day that the governor of Delta State, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, relaxed the lockdown and other restrictions of movements, a new case of the coronavirus emerged in the state.

The case was part of the 195 new cases of the COVID-19 announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Tuesday, which brings the total number of cases in the country to 1532.

The new cases as indicated in the agency’s Twitter handle, showed that Lagos has 80 cases, Kano 38. Ogun 15, Bauchi, 15, Borno 11, Gombe 10 and 9 in Sokoto,

Other states are Edo 5, Jigawa 5, Zamfara 2, 1 each in Rivers, Enugu, Delta, FCT and Nasarawa.

Out of the 1532 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 255 patients have been discharged and 44 deaths recorded so far.

The Delta State government had on Tuesday partially lifted the ban on movements within the state with effect from Thursday, April 30, 2020.

Governor Okowa who announced this during his broadcast to the people, said the decision became necessary to enable the people engage in economic/business activities between the hours of 6am and 7pm.
