Manchester United striker, Odion Ighalo, is confident Lille forward, Victor Osimhen, is the future of the Super Eagles.
Ighalo called it quits with the national team after helping Nigeria finish third at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, where he finished with five goals to top the scorers chart, while Osimhen understudied him at the competition.
The United striker says he is still in contact with the national team players and believes Osimhen’s goals can take Nigeria farther than any striker did in the past.
“I talk to the guys once in a while, I talk to Chukwueze, I talk to Osimhen.
“Osimhen is the future of the Super Eagles. He is going to do so well in football, I always advise him, to keep calm and keep working hard that the sky is going to be his limit.”
The former Watford striker says what is exciting about the 21-year-old is the amount of work he puts into his game and his winning mentality.
“I love him, he is down to earth, he is hard-working, he has a good future and also has the mentality of a winner. That is what I love about him. He has that lion heart, I just want him to keep working hard the way he is doing. He is going to break so many records in Europe and in Nigeria.”
Osimhen has been one of the most in-form strikers in Europe scoring 18 goals in 38 games for Lille since joining from Belgian side, Sporting Charleroi, in the summer.
