The governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has cleared the air on his alleged purchase of form for N100m to contest for president next February under All Progressive Congress (APC).

The governor said he will remain in his current post as Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria.
He made the statement on Saturday after critics called on him to resign following reports of his political ambitions.

A spokesperson for the ruling APC, had on Friday, said that Emefiele had bought forms to contest the party’s presidential nomination.
However, Emefiele tweeted: “I have not come to that decision.”

He said he would continue to serve as central bank governor and would clarify his ambitions in the next few days.

Reports of Emefiele’s presidential bid sent the naira close to a record low of 591 per dollar on the black market on Friday.

Emefiele is serving a second term at the central bank.
