
The sack of leaders of Community Development Committee (CDC) of Ashaka Progressive Union (APU) in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State by the Okpala-Uku of Ashaka; His Royal Highness Solomon Usoro has thrown the committee members into internal wrangling that may lead to breakdown of law and order in the community.
Since the announcement of the sack by the Okpala-Uku over allegation of the committee’s inefficiency and insubordination; the community has been embroiled in in-fighting.
The sweeping changes announced by the Okpala-Uku also affected the spokesman of the community, Chief Patrick Ogeleka, who was replaced with Nze Paul Jumbo in an eight-man caretaker committee headed by the immediate past regent, Ogbuefi Anthony Miligu.
Meanwhile, the members of APU have filed a suit in Kwale High Court, challenging their sack.
In his reaction, Apostle Chukwunweike Okolo, the leader of the CDC said Wednesday that he remains the CDC Chairman, saying: “Some people are just trying to manipulate the Okpala-Uku for their selfish interest. As far as I’m concerned, my Exco remains in office, having just spent barely a year in our four tenure mandate.
“As I speak with you, I have not been formally removed by the congress that elected us.
“All the relevant authorities are still relating with my Exco. We were not appointed by anybody. Already, the President General of APU has already gone to court to restrain them from any illegal action”, said the embattled CDC chairman.
