
…moves towards passage of bill prohibiting non-engineers from practicing engineering
The Delta State House of Assembly has felicitated with the newly elected executive of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Delta State Council for their success in the keenly contested election.
Hon Owhefere acknowledged the contributions of members of the union in the success stories of the Delta State House of Assembly, saying that the House was happy over the peaceful conduct of the election.
The Majority Leader, and Chairman Committee on Information enjoined the new Leadership of the NUJ led by Comrade Michael Ikeogwu (Chairman) to strive to take the union to higher level.
Hon Owhefere also charged the Union to sustain its partnership with the Delta State legislature in house avowed commitment to peace and good governance.
The Lawmaker further stated that journalists in the state were major stakeholders to the Stronger Delta mantra of the Okowa administration, urging all to always be constructive in their activities.
Hon Owhefere pledged the House continued support to the NUJ both at state and national levels.
Meanwhile, the Delta State bill for Prohibition of Non-Engineers from Practicing Engineeriing; sponsored by the Member Representing Aniocha North Constituency, in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Emeke Nwaobi and two others has passed the first reading.
The bill is aimed at prohibiting non-engineers from practicing engineering, engagement of certified engineers by contractors and for other matters connected therewith.
The second reading has scheduled for Tuesday, 13th October 2020.
